Mumbai ke Borivali West mein BMC ne footpaths par encroachment ke khilaaf bada action liya hai. ‘Pedestrian First’ campaign ke first phase mein civic authorities ne 20 unauthorised structures ko demolish kiya, jabki 15 unauthorised stalls ko bhi clear kiya gaya. Ye action Borivali West ke R-Central Ward ke areas mein kiya gaya.
BMC ke mutabik, action Lokmanya Tilak Road, Market Lane aur Borivali Subway Road jaise areas mein hua, jahan footpaths par obstructions ki wajah se pedestrians ko movement mein dikkat ho rahi thi.
Is campaign ke first phase mein Borivali ke 6 major footpaths par lagbhag 8 kilometre ka stretch clear karne ka target rakha gaya hai. BMC ka focus footpaths ko pedestrians ke liye accessible aur obstruction-free banana hai, khaaskar Borivali West railway station ke aas-paas ke high-footfall areas mein.
Action ke dauraan BMC ne 2 JCB machines, 5 dumpers, 10 se zyada civic officers aur staff aur 20 workers deploy kiye. Law and order maintain karne ke liye 15 se zyada police personnel bhi maujood rahe.
‘Pedestrian First’ campaign ka focus sirf ek area tak limited nahi hai. BMC ke mutabik, campaign ke under railway aur Metro stations, schools, colleges, hospitals aur doosre high-footfall locations se connected footpaths par unauthorised hawkers, encroachments, stored material, signboards, banners aur other obstructions ko remove karne ki action li ja rahi hai.
BMC ne September mein bataya tha ki campaign ke under Mumbai mein lagbhag 246 kilometre footpaths ko obstruction-free banaya gaya tha aur 1,711 locations par action liya gaya tha.
Ab Borivali West mein hui is fresh action ke baad bada sawaal ye hai—kya 8 kilometre footpath ka ye crackdown pedestrians ko sach mein continuous aur obstruction-free walking space dega? Ya kuch time baad footpaths par encroachment phir se lautega?
Filhaal BMC ka ‘Pedestrian First’ campaign Mumbai ke footpath encroachments ko lekar civic authorities ke intensified action ko highlight kar raha hai.
